Vapor barrier is a material (mostly plastic) used to prevent the walls from being moist. Such barriers are often used in case you have a crawl space basement. Crawl space basement is a name commonly used for a basement in which a person cannot stand up. The height of such basement is so little that you need to crawl in case you want to enter the basement and the surface is mostly made of soil. After wrapping the boundaries of the crawling space you must cut the sheet nearby any fixed object in the crawling space such as floor beam supports. Don’t forget to tape all the seams and the cut spaces otherwise your entire effort will go to waste. Once you are done with tapping and wrapping, fill up the channel that you dig earlier in order to wrap the vapor barrier.

Shore up the excess amount of vapor barrier again the crawl space walls with the help of tape in order to make sure that they do not get loosened as a loose vapor barrier will not at all be effective. One thing that must be kept in mind is that the vapor retarder should extend above the grade level in order to fulfill its purpose properly.
