To promote mlm without loosing friends, family and your self-esteem can be challenging. Most common and most traditional way of sponsoring members into your business is to call up all your friend, family, neighbors, coworkers and tell them about your business. You are encouraged to pitch your business to everyone you connect with If you have build a downline before using this method that's great, but most people lack the skills needed to be successful in that type of marketing and it does more harm then good to their personal lives.

By you continually keep hounding your friends and family to join your business and tell them how great it is, in time they will start avoiding you like the plague.

If you promote mlm in this way you will eventually run out of people to talk to and you will result to one of two things buying leads, use the three foot rule or going on the internet to generate leads. Buying leads and cold calling is not the best way to be promoting mlm. A lot of those leads will not be the nicest people to talk to and if you are new to the game of mlm it could cause you to lose your enthusiasm with is very important for success.

The three foot rule doesn't work for most people, mostly because they either just don't say the right things to people and end up pitching and trying to convince people about their business or are just to shy to start a conversation with a perfect stranger.

Promoting mlm using the Internet is extremely powerful, if you know how to go about it, you will never have to pitch your friends again. You can use it if your have a large marketing budget or if all you can afford is free marketing. With a large marketing budget you are free to use quick paid marketing strategies, pay per click, list builders, ezine solo ads just to name a few. There is even an option for you to outsource all this work if you do not have time to learn these strategies and work on them yourself. Just remember to work on your prospecting skills because if you are just promoting your business opportunity and not signing people up you could be losing money.

With a zero budget your marketing strategies will have to include a bit more labor intensive strategies. The following are great strategies to use if you have to use free or very inexpensive marketing:

- Myspace
- Blogs
- Forums
- Articles
- List builders

If you do use the above marketing strategies they can be very effective ways of promoting mlm and generating leads for your business. To successfully market using these strategies you have to use them to start branding yourself and not your mlm company. This is a lot different then what most marketers do using these strategies and many are spending a lot of time with very little results. They promote mlm instead of themselves and their system. Many network marketers don't market their own marketing style that will attracts quality prospects to them, who are looking for not just an opportunity but a leader who can mentor them to success.

You have to realize that people are always tempted with business opportunities but they are looking for fulfill their dreams and in order to get people as your prospects you need to market yourself as someone who can show them how to do it.

If you promote yourself and show a system of marketing that will show them how to marketing so they will never have to buy a lead or any bug your friends ever again. When you stop promoting mlm and promote yourself as a mentor you will eventually have people chasing you and will start developing strong trusting friendships with people that otherwise would have blown you off.
