How to Plan a Valentine Party - By: Allan Michael Taylor

Valentine's Day is not just for couples. It is also for friends, family, and other people that you care about. This is the reason why it is a great day to have a party. Planning a Valentine party is also similar to planning a regular party, but you have to inject a bit of romance to make it perfect for the occasion.

If you are clueless about planning a party, it will be harder. You might end up with a disorganized or boring party that people will remember. What you need are some tips on how to plan a Valentine party. Here are some of these great tips.

- The first thing that you should think about is the date and time. Since this is a Valentine party, you should try to have it on Valentine's Day itself—on February 14th. However, this can be difficult because your guests might have other plans on the same day. Or the date might fall on a weekday when people are working. What you can do instead is to plan it on a day other than the 14th and plan it on a weekend.

- The next step would be to make the guest list. You might want to make it an intimate party. Do not invite everyone you know. It is better to invite only those people whom you are close to like your friends, relatives, and so on. It is important to know the number of guests you are planning to invite so that you can better decide on the location and food.

- You should now decide on the location. Do you want to have it at home, in a park, at a restaurant, at the beach, or in your apartment's rec room? Whichever you choose, you have to know the cost for renting the place (if there is a rental fee) and the size. You have to consider the number of guests that you are planning to invite and also the ambience of the place. If the place is dingy and dark and looks more like a place for Halloween parties, scratch that form your list and move on to your next option. You want your guests to experience and feel love, not to get scared.

- Once you have decided on the place, you should now consider decorations and music. Decorations should be related to Valentine's Day. You can have huge heart cut outs, red and silver confetti, or anything romantic. Be careful when decorating for a romantic room though. You do not want to end up having cheesy decorations. For the music, you should have a mixture of romantic and non-romantic songs.

- Of course, you should not forget the food. Since this is a very sweet day, you should also consider serving sweet foods like cakes and pastries, sweet and romantic drinks, and so on. You can also serve a few non-sweet dishes. You do not want your guests to weigh one pound more once they leave your Valentine party.
