How to Keep a Conversation Going with Your Girlfriend - By: Tower of Power

Obviously, you know your girlfriend more intimately (hopefully) than any one else does, but even with armed with this knowledge, conversations may still be difficult, especially if you two are in the early stages of your relationship. What follows are a few easy to remember tips on keeping any conversation with your girlfriend going, no matter the situation.

ASK ABOUT HER DAY - Typically, she will love to relate to you the things that happened to her, with an emphasis on her interactions with other people, the good and the bad.

ASK ABOUT HER FRIENDS - For most girls, her friends are a life, social life, anyhow, and showing a keen interest in this aspect of will not only keep the conversation going, it will show your girlfriend how much you are interested in her. It will make her feel appreciated.

ASK ABOUT HER FAMILY - Like her friends, her family will likely be important to her, and asking about them will endear yourself to your girlfriend's good graces, but for a slightly different reason. While her friends represent the strength of her social life, they are not permanent, the can come and go. When you become familiar with her family, it lends a particular permanency to the relationship you share with her.

ASK ABOUT ANY PROJECTS OR HOBBIES SHE HAS GOING ON - Try to be specific, know ahead of time what she enjoys doing in her spare time (art, photography, book club, etc.) and tailor your questions to your girlfriend's interests. Avoid general questions such as, "So how's your book club doing?" Try to get specific. Ask, "What did your book club think of The History of Love?"

AVOID TALKING ABOUT YOURSELF - Unless and until she asks about you. Good conversations develop through mutual exchange and interest. The way intimate conversation works is, you ask about her, she asks about you. Don't take it upon yourself to do her job for her, because this will kill a conversation prematurely. People, not just your girlfriend, get so caught up in talking about themselves that this is a great way to keep a conversation going.

IF YOU'RE DESPERATE - If the conversation just isn't happening, but you feel the need to keep her talking, or at least interested, resort to more personal questions, the questions that either you or her have been avoiding until now, such as past loves, sexual habits and so forth. But be extremely careful when employing this tactic, for it may backfire on you. Sure, you'll have plenty to talk about with your girlfriend, but the conversation could quickly get out of your control.
