How to Have an Eco Friendly Wedding - By: Rod Hoss

As the society grows more responsible towards its surroundings, recognizing the significance of individual efforts towards environment conservation, more ways are being devised to achieve that end. A few years earlier, no one could have thought of the concept of eco-friendly marriages, but it has become a growing trend. There are various ways to replace the conventional elements with their 'green' substitutes.

Ways to make your wedding environment friendly:

Invitations:

Though much of correspondence is sent over the internet these days, invitations for key personal events are among the exception. One good alternative to the high quality fancy papers is the recycled paper. Such paper reduces the energy consumption, greenhouse gases, particulate emissions, and industrial waste, apart from wood. Recycled papers are also made in various colors, textures, and design patterns for different types of uses. Avoid chlorine-bleached paper and insist on 100% PCW (post-consumer waste) paper.

Rings and jewelry:

Mineral and metal mining industries are highly risky that take hundreds of lives each year. By committing to wear recycled jewelry and wedding rings, you can contribute towards the reduction in demand for new metals and stones. Since the original metal from the old pieces is melted and recast during recycling, the new jewelry is a fresh one in itself. Even studded items can be recycled.

Fabric:

The processes to create synthetic dress materials are highly polluting. As an alternative, the wedding outfits for everyone involved can be created out of natural fibers, like cotton, hemp, etc. For people, who are fond of soft, shiny, and flowing fabrics, peace silk is an excellent option. This type of silk is primarily cultured in India and is cruelty-free. It utilizes the silk from the cocoon discarded by the moth and spun as fibers, rather than killing the worms in hot water.

Decorations:

Choosing the natural option of flowers instead of decorative paper or plastic is not only healthy, but also beautiful.

Food and drinks:

Shun synthetically prepared meals, processed foods, fizzy drinks, etc. in the favor of organic feasts. Drinks made vegetation grown organically are fast gaining popularity. Therefore, you can set a new tradition by serving your guests with pink Champagne.

Honeymoon:

The good news is that even your honeymoon can go green. Choose an eco-friendly exotic location, rather than the sophisticated modern resorts or hotels. Such options do not add to environmental woes by emitting harmful gases from their air conditioning units, refrigerators, and so on. In addition, they have a salutary effect on your body and soul.
