How to Harvest Rewards from Your Tree of Life - By: Cynthia A Copenhaver

Last year, I planted an adult apple tree in my yard that had been bulldozed down from the family orchards. I admit, I really just put it in a hole and neglected it.

The apple tree showed some promise of blossoms this spring with a few blossoms at the top, so I was happy. Yet, I was too busy with other goals, to look closer at maintenance issues.

A family of gophers also liked my new apple tree and moved in underneath, munching on its new struggling roots. My apple tree leaves began to wither and die, unable to draw moisture from the soil below.

Yes, I feel bad about it, but it was a lesson learned to look at other neglected goals in my life. To run down my list and just make sure that, I maintain some action as a farmer would while tending his crops for harvest!

Think like a farmer to harvest an abundant and successful life! Bear with me on this analogy since my Mother's side of the family owns a fruit farm, I am going to use that as an example.

Envision the process of digging the holes and planting those sapling fruit trees. You may have to add nutrients to the soil and fertilizers. You make sure they are standing straight and firmly pack the dirt around the trunks. You water, prune, fertilize, etc. You do everything you can to ensure these trees grow healthy and produce fruit.

Excitedly, you see the blossoms, and this motivates you to continue your care. Then, having patience, you see the baby fruit...then eventually in the fall, you are able to harvest your rewards! Each year, you smile as you harvest the rewards of your labors.

Okay, what I am obviously referencing here is the fact that when you reach that point in life and are asking yourself, "Is this it?" "What now?"

Start digging deep within yourself and ask yourself what do YOU really want? Expand upon your answer...add that fertilizer and nutrients, so to speak....then, ask what? or how? You can achieve it. Plant your tree in other words. If you are not sure, then seek out the answer, first.

Once you know what you want and have it firmly planted. Take Action! Like a tree, an idea or desire will just wither and die if not maintained! You know what you want, keep to a schedule of making sure you are progressing forward.

Check your goals and see if they need to be pruned or need maintenance. When they begin to blossom, don't stop taking care of them, or they will not fully develop! If any pests come around and attempt to destroy the roots of your goal, take control of the situation. You are in control and need to take care of that goal, dream, or desire.

Have patience and you will soon be harvesting an abundant rewards from your own tree of life!
