Instructions:

• If your computer shuts down forcibly and you have no way out to proceed, then use this command. Click on the Start menu and navigate to Run. Type ‘cmd’ (without quotes and as is) and press the Enter button on the keyboard.

• When the Command Prompt window opens up, type ‘shutdown – a’ and then hit the Enter key. This will prevent Windows from shutting down forcibly and automatically.

• Locate the McAfee icon and double click on it to open the console. You can find the McAfee icon either in system tray or Start menu> Programs or All Programs whichever is there> McAfee> VirusScan Console.

• When the VirusScan Console window opens up, right click on Access Protection and then choose Properties from the dropdown list. Click to uncheck the box next to Enable access protection and click on the Apply button and then OK to exit the Properties window. Similarly turn off the On-Access Scanner option

• Right click on the Quarantine Manager and navigate to Properties. Now restore the quarantine file (SVCHOST.exe) by clicking on the Restore button. When done, exit the McAfee VirusScan Console window.

• Click on the Start menu and navigate to My Computer. Right click on the My Computer icon and choose Manage from the dropdown list. Click on Services under Services and Maintenance and ensure that both the Remote Procedure Call services are enabled and running.

• Re-launch McAfee console and navigate to Tools and then Rollback DATs. Proceed with the prompt and then exit the window. Close all the windows and then restart your computer. Everything shall be fine now.

• If your internet explorer crashes, then use this method. Reboot your computer in Safe Mode with Networking. While the window is restarting, start tapping the F8 key on the keyboard until you see the Advanced Options menu. Use arrow keys to scroll down to the desired option and then hit Enter.

• Navigate to the Command Prompt window (see above mentioned steps) and type ‘DEL C:\Program Files\Common Files\McAfee\Engine\avvscan.dat’ and hit Enter. Type ‘cd c:\windows\system32\dllcache’ and then hit Enter. Type ‘copy SvcHost.exe ..\’ and then hit Enter. Now that you have run all the commands, exit the window and restart your computer in normal mode. Your browser should be all fine now.

Wherever you are asked something to type in that is written in quotes, it has to be typed without quotes as these are intended only for highlighting the text.
