Cleaning without chemicals is actually a lot simpler, and more effective, than most people think. It also saves you money over time, and to top it all off, is the environmentally friendly option.

Depending on what sort of hard surfaces you're looking to clean there are steam mops, and hand held steam cleaners.

The steam mops are just meant for cleaning your floor. The hand held units have attachments for various surfaces, including a squeegee for your mirrors, brushes, and floor attachments. The downside to using these for your floors, however, is that you'll be bending over and hurting your back to do so, which is why I recommend a steam mop for your floors.

With either of these types of products, you simply fill them with water, wait a few minutes for it to heat up, and you're ready to clean! While with traditional cleaning methods you would need a variety of cleaning solutions, this involves no chemicals. You push the button and run the product along your surfaces (wiping them down a soft cloth afterwards if you're using a hand held unit) and your surfaces are clean! The hot water gets into the surfaces, leaving your home very effectively clean, while still being gentle. While in the past you may have worried about abrasive chemicals on your nice granite, or your hardwood floors, as long as you have a normal sealant on your hardwood floors this should be fine on all your surfaces.

Once you have a hand held steam cleaner you'll be surprised at how many surfaces you can use it on--kitchen appliances, the spaces between tiles, your mirrors, bathroom surfaces, and the list goes on. One tool for cleaning your whole house certainly makes things simpler.
