How to Behave in Court When Going Through Divorce Proceedings - By: Joan Barrera

If you go to Court with a legal representative, then some of this information is designed for you too. Your lawyer will have all of the legal stress, but you need to conduct yourself with dignity even though a divorce was never part ever experience plan!

The two things you might want to consider when going to Court for a divorce, are firstly, to be ready, and secondly, to be sincere.

Be ready:

However, you might worry about whether or not your documents are correct and whether you've got done everything you are supposed to have done with regards to serving them on your spouse, there is more to preparation than simply crossing t's and dotting i's. You ought to have your documents in some type of folder and I recommend labelling these somehow, so that when you have to refer to one in trial, you can locate it quickly and easily. I prefer to use a system of sticky notes on the proper hand side of the documents along with the name and date of the document into it. Alternatively you could make a front sheet where your documents are listed with their dates, and allocated a multitude. The documents are then positioned behind that front index sheet and the sticky notes then have may be the document on them.

You have got to have a notepad without a cover for writing notes of dates or other things on, and two pens in case at least one lets you down.

Be Respectful:

I think respect is shown in three ways within a Australian Court.

The first is in your dress. Men ought to wear long pants, button shirt and dark shoes. A coat is nice to have. Jeans are not acceptable in my view. Women should not wear athletic clothes or cocktail dresses (both which I have seen in my own career) but should wear what is regarded as good day clothes or maybe a business attire.

The second way respect is shown is your speech.
The reason ex married couple's are making this unusual living arrangement work is down to our adaptability as human beings to adjust to changes in our lives. Not so long ago people were fighting dinosaurs and living in caves making it not that hard to observe how we deal with our modern-day dinosaurs including recessions and credit crunches. We make it work because we are born survivors and have your mental capacity to carve out new ideas that will help us get through whatever ordeal we are forced to face.

It is all about choices as to how we emerge from disastrous situations and if it means suddenly having to live which includes a person we no longer care for so many of us are biting the bullet and doing that.

Some quick advise for avoiding the three C's (struggle, chaos and confrontation) are as follows.

1. Have split bedrooms.

2. Discuss household chores and duties.

3. Have one joint account for mortgage and household costs.

4. Work together to pay off credit cards and hire-purchase legal agreements.

5. Save money for any divorce.

6. Set boundaries so each partner knows precisely what is expected of them

7. Maintain communicating without anger. Don't get caught up in the issues of the marriage.
