Great sales skills are not always inborn. Often people
think if they are not given the skills naturally then they will not be
successful in sales. .But it is
nothing but a fallacy Many a great sales professional has acquired the bulk of his expertise through books and
training conducted by seasoned professional, people who have spent years
learning and honing their skills. If it is your ambition to become a great salesperson, you must
remain open to new learning, new training and new experiences.\

Sales in the twenty first century is a little different than in the
past. The days of the pushy salesman with a polished pitch are gone. Such tactics will only be met with resistance. A far better strategy is to get
to know your client as a human being

To be successful in sales in the
21st century a salesman needs to talk to potential customers like they want
to become their friend and want to learn about the customers interests,
needs, and problems. Exhibiting a genuine interest in how you can help them will engender
trust and encourage an openness to your words.

When you fail to close a
sale, when your customer just will not buy, do not lose heart; do not be
discourage. Your product may not be the right fit, or the timing could be
wrong. There will always be another day.Every experience can be a learning tool and a good salesman can become a great salesperson, but examining his own performance and learning from it. Evaluate how you handled the interaction and take learning tips from it for future growth. Do not worry about past days non-closure interactions with customers. Just live in the present days work and grow from each experience.

Try to maintain contact with both customers and prospects. Email lists are an excellent method of keeping regular contact. The more often a prospect hears from you , the more familiar and trusting they become and the more receptive they will be when you send actual sales information.

Demonstrate that you are involved with the community through the participation in local organizations, chambers, clubs and charities. Become visible to your customers; show concern for the community and demonstrate to them that you have greater interests than just pushing your wares.

Think in terms of how you can help you customer, not how you can get them to buy. Become a genuine solution to your customers' problems and they will be loyal buyers for some time to come.
