How to Be Rich ? By Loving Your Job - By: Linna Yeo

Do you have a passion for your job ? Are you creating your own dream and bringing home the gold or does life hand you with copper coins?
In the traditional Chinese culture, when a child reaches one year old, symbolic objects are placed within reach of the child. The object that he crawls towards and eventually picks up will provide clue on his future ambitions. I am not sure if this is still in practice today, as one cannot look at the object and read the secret destiny it beholds.

What I do believe is that man is born with specific magnetic needles that point to the star of its own destiny. Like a compass pointing only at the North Star, you may have spent years on an education and vocation of your parents’ choice. And it is only when you are set free of this obligation, that your magnetic needle flies back to your own star. This is only when, you will discover your own destiny. No man can be successful until he has found his own place - the Job he loves to do.

Despite best efforts, some men are unable to find success in his vocation. Take the example of a fish caught on the wrong side of the wave and ends up floundering on the sand. No matter how hard it tries with all its might, the fish would never succeed in flipping itself back to the water. All it has to do is to wait (hopefully it does not take too long!) for the next wave to break higher up the beach and cover it up. The moment the fins feel the water, it darts like a flash through the waves. The fin means something now, which before as it beat the air and the sand, it was a hindrance.

If you are feeling out of place in your current job, it will be time to ponder if that is what you want to do for the rest of your working life.

If you fail to do a job well after doing your level best, examine the work attempted and see if that is really within the line of your interest. Some teenagers show remarkable talents in a specific field when growing up, while majority will find it difficult to decide what to do for a living.

If your gut feel and instinct calls for art, be a great Artist. If it calls for dealing with camera in a motion picture film, be a famous Cinematographer. If it calls for medical research, be a respectable Biomedical Scientist. With these firm choice and earnest work, you cannot help, but be successful in your chosen field.

It does not matter what your vocation is, you take it upon yourself to be a master in whatever you undertake. If you become a specialist in your area of responsibility, all doors and opportunities will fly open for you. Go to the bottom of your business if you would want to climb to the top. Master every detail.

However, you must take great care to ensure that your work does not paralyze or destroy your body and soul. Choose a vocation that will develop your well being, both mental and physical, and will also provide you a chance for self improvement. If possible, avoid any job that requires you to work at night all the time and on rest days. These odd hours will weaken your health, your will power and over time, your enthusiasm will be demoralized, resulting in lost confidence. Your energy level will begin to spiral down.

Once you have decided on your vocation, focus on enriching it. Never look back; stick to it with all the tenacity you can muster. Let nothing tempt or swerve you away from your aim. It will be difficult for you to succeed if you are constantly being haunted on the possibility that you can succeed better in something else.

Only by focusing on your target, you will be able to win over difficult times, and ultimately triumph over many adversities you will face on your uphill climb. A rolling stone gathers no moss; the constant change of one’s occupation is fatal to success. Each time you almost reach the point of efficiency in one line of work, you venture into something else. You will forever be incompetent, never leaving a mar
