Well, you just visited the airport yesterday to see off your friend. Did you notice something? Yes, most of the travelers nowadays carry excess luggage. No doubt, all of us are accustomed to a luxurious lifestyle. Often, we feel that we might not be able to do without the luxuries even for a single day. Little do we realize that excess baggage can lead to overweight bags and we might end up paying high charges for the same!

Whenever you are traveling, it is always advisable to make advance preparations. This is especially necessary if you are traveling to a different country. Always make sure that you do not pack any item which is prohibited in that country. Different items are prohibited in different countries. However, a few items or products remain the same.

Firstly, make sure that you would not be allowed to carry any kind of weapons with you while you are planning to board the plane. Customs authorities all over the world give a deaf ear to your explanations if you are caught with weapons of any kind. In addition, also make sure that you do not carry any dangerous or hazardous item. These include razors, hammers, scissors or any similar object. However, if you feel the need, you can always purchase such objects after you have arrived at a particular destination. Likewise, sports equipment like golf clubs or baseball bats as well as objects like lighter fluids and fireworks are also not permitted.

You can also carry few of the liquids. However, always carry them in small quantities in bags. The liquids that can be carried include things like gel products, shampoo, toothpaste as well as other such products.

Often, food products are also prohibited in some countries even though there are certain exceptions to the rule. These include food items like pineapples, olives and coffee berry. However, you also need to wrap them with clear and transparent packaging material. In case your journey takes in two separate flights, it is advisable to check the regulations for both the flights. At times, the regulations that are legal for one service might not be legal for another!

Last but not the least; avoid carrying items that contribute to your excess luggage!
