DVDs can be a great gift for your family. If you have made a home movie or collected family photos you can make them nice gift items. 1. First, measure a DVD case. You need to take measurements of length and width of the DVD. In general, the size is 7.25 inches by 10.75 inches.



2. Now create a file on your computer system. Store all of your photos, graphics and videos to be used for the DVD project.



3. Select the ones that you want to feature on the front cover of the DVD from your list of family photos. It is good if you go through the old family album and collect some of your old photos to be included.



4. Arrange a scanner and then scan the photos in your computer by using simple scanning instructions. Store the scan copies into a file folder.



5. You can edit the photos and do little changes by using photo-editing software. Paint from Microsoft windows and Adobe Photoshop are good tools to use.



6. Open up your graphic layout program either from Adobe Photoshop or Microsoft publisher. Set the page parameters of DVD cover. You may require adjusting the border size according to the measurements you have taken. Otherwise, the cover will get off.



7. Name your DVD file and save it on your computer.



8. Now import the photos into your graphic software. You can resize them by holding the control key. Drag it inward and outward directions. Double check the instructions if you run into problems.



9. After you have finished editing the photos, add text to the DVD cover. Since you are presenting it as a gift, make sure you include the name of the family or date of the photos. You can add special symbol or custom-made design into it.



10. Arrange some card stock paper into your printer and then print the DVD cover.



11. Cut out the extra card stock, so that DVD sleeve can fit the cover size.



12. Finally, slide the DVD sleeve into a hard plastic cover.
