If you've bought a timeshare and find yourself not using it as much as you wanted, either due to issues such as health, money, family or just plain old lack of time, you might be thinking that selling it is the way to go. After all, you get a quick cash infusion, as well as having one less thing to think about. You also won't have the guilt of buying something that, at the time, seemed like it would get a lot of use, but hasn't. And the person who ultimately buys from you gets something that they want and that will allow them to treat themselves and family to a good time. That said, you might be wondering if you could sell your timeshare free. With the claims and hype out there, it is not surprising that this would be a first thought. And given the current economic climate, it is quite understandable. In fact, there is a way that you can start off trying to sell for free and it is the oldest form of selling in the book: word of mouth. Start off by telling your friends, other family members and generally getting the word out to your own personal circle. You may get lucky and be able to sell right then and there. However, if you can't, consider that your other friends and family may know of someone that is in the position to buy and looking for what you sell. This is what makes word of mouth so powerful, it doesn't just stop when you tell one person.

That said, you'll probably want to look at other form of advertising. There are of course radio and TV as well as print, but these are untargeted and can very quickly become expensive. One of the cheapest forms of advertising is online. By placing ads on google, you get prospects that are actually looking for what you want to sell. And you are able to keep track of ad performance. Naturally, there is a learning curve involved but this is one of the quickest ways to generate interest. Of course you'll need a website and here again there is some cost involved if you want to host it yourself. You'll need a domain name (typically around $10) as well as a good host (some start as low as $4/month).

There is however an alternative to even this if you truly want to sell your timeshare free. This is known as free blogs. Think of a blog as an online page on which you can put whatever you want. Blogger (run by Google) is the easiest one to set up. You can be up and running within minutes. Another option is Wordpress. Though more complex, you may find that it will get you visitors and inquiries fast. Ultimately, how you choose to advertise your share is up to you, just remember that it is never truly free. You'll either pay in the form of money for advertising or brokers, or you'll pay in the form of time. But once you DO sell your timeshare, it will be worth it.
