Panic Anxiety Disorder Types

Anxiety is a normal feeling experienced by everyone at some point of their life. This is the normal feeling that you get when you are faced with a problem at work or at home. Anxiety disorder is differentiated from the normal anxious feeling. The former is a serious condition whereas the latter is a general feeling. The disorder may greatly hamper a person's ability to lead a normal life. Following are the five major types of anxiety disorders:

1) Generalized Anxiety Disorder: This disorder, generally referred to as GAD, is categorized as a chronic anxiety. People suffering from this disorder have constant feeling of worries for no reasons at all. A person suffering from this condition will keep on experiencing an awe feeling without any valid reasons for months. So far the exact cause for the condition has not been specified. Most commonly GAD manifests physical symptoms such as muscle aches, headaches, fatigue, sweating, irritability etc
2) Obsessive Compulsive Disorder: People suffering from obsessive compulsive disorder which is more commonly known as OCD, often manifest symptoms such as repetitive behavior, distressing thoughts, intrusiveness etc . About 2-3% of the Americans are greatly affected by this condition. Obsessions and compulsive rituals are the two major symptoms often found in people suffering from this condition.

3) Panic Disorder: Panic disorder is one type of disorder which does not give any warning. Intense fear is one of the major symptoms of this type of disorder. Panic disorder symptoms also manifest physical symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath, dizziness, nausea and heart palpitations.

4) Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder: Post traumatic stress disorder occurs more commonly among those people whose life have been subjected to dangerous situations like accidents, natural disaster or assaults. These people are often found to be withdrawn and prefer to detach themselves from any emotional bonding. There are a number of physical symptoms being manifested for this condition. Those very common are sleeplessness, feeling emotionally numb , emotional detachment etc.

5) Social Phobia or Social Anxiety Disorder: People suffering from this condition are normally self conscious people. The victim of this disorder often suffers from stage fright, hesitation in socializing with people, embarrassment eating in a large group of people etc. They suffer from inferiority complex and avoid people. This disorder manifest physical symptoms like nausea, sweating, blushing and difficulty talking .

How To Overcome Anxiety Disorder Strategies

The best way to effectively overcome this condition is to address the underlying causes of the disorder. There are a number of medications available for the effective treatment of anxiety disorder but since they are entitled to a variety of side effects it is best to not depend on them only. Medications accompanied by counseling are the best approach for dealing with this disorder. Besides these there are also a number of helpful tips that you can do to help yourself in overcoming the condition. Some of the tips that might be helpful in overcoming anxiety are:

- Exercising everyday for at least 30 minutes a day will be helpful in overcoming the disorder.
- Include lots of fruits, vegetables, vitamins and minerals in your diet. As far as possible, decrease intake of salt, sugar, coffee and other stimulants.
- Do things that entertains you and holds your interest.
- Adequate sleep, reading books, listening to music, playing games and attending social gatherings are some of the things that can help you get rid of that feeling.

Realize that anxiety is not always a bad thing. Anxiety helps you in sharpening your wit and boost your competitive spirit. It also enthuse you with the feeling to become more productive and alert. Accept the fact, there is no way to have an anxiety free life. Thus, as long as the anxiety does not become a disorder it is a good feeling that can boost your spirit.
