How To Keep Peace With A Spouse And Live A Long, Carefree, And Stress Free Life! - By: Bob Alexander

During a lifetime of turmoil, anger, and aggravation with females, I finally stumbled on the relationship secret of the ages. Much of our stress comes from spats with our spouse. Men can usually handle stress at the workplace, but tension between spouses can cause our stress thermometer to reach the top of the scale.

At our house we have very little stress. When it comes to living a simple and carefree existence with your spouse, I now have achieved the pinnacle of romantic relations with my wife. Of course these are instructions to the male reader and should not be assumed that they will work for everyone.

This advice comes with a caveat: Like me, the participant must have complete control of his emotions and willpower at all times in order to make these suggestions work. Sometimes you have to grit your teeth through a grin. Here are some suggestions that have worked for me:

Keep your mouth shut! You must realize that your spouse is always right! Your own opinion matters, only if it is not spoken. Bite your tongue and nod your head as if agreeing and put a smile on your face. It is hard to get serious about arguing with someone with they are agreeing with you and smiling. She will think you appreciate her candor.

Also be advised that you are really never going to win even the smallest disagreement without losing somewhere else, possibly about something really important. You have to learn to pick your battles and only try to win one when it’s not about a critical matter. Even then it is best to have carefully chosen words, and few of them.

Blame the cat! Women like to communicate and understand your feelings. Men don’t have the emotional depth of a woman. Once again, talking will get you into trouble and communication mostly leads to placing blame for whatever conflict you’re experiencing. Don’t blame her! With a straight face place all the responsibility for the problem directly on the cat…or the dog.

Try to understand your spouse. Feel safe in the knowledge that you are never going to completely understand what she is going through, but just listening with a concerned expression goes a long way toward calming the turbulent waters of marital discord. All this can be done with very few words.

How do you like my hair? There is really no answer for this question, but I have learned to say that I think I like it that way. Usually my wife will amend the question by asking, “Do you think I cut too much off?”

Whether she has just been to the hair dresser or cut off a few locks of hair herself, it’s a safe bet to give her a positive answer. Women don’t care whether you like it or not, they just want to know that you notice them.

My ideas on how to keep peace with my wife are not based on any scientific facts or even theories, but on my experience with the opposite sex. Keeping my mouth shut does not make me any less of a man, only one who lives in a stress free home with a beautiful and intelligent woman.
