The first technique is called the floating hardwood floor installation. What you do here is that you put the planks together and the lay them down as a whole. Then you create some allowance for expansion by placing edges around the sides of the boards. Then you have to cover the edges by using some skirting so that the whole floor can look finished and lovely.

The next floor installation technique is called staple down hardwood floor installation. It is also called tack down wood installation. Due to the fact that there will be no room for expansion this method is not that used commonly. All the boards are actually nailed down into the sub floor in this method. It is practically the easiest way to install wood floor.

There is also what you call the stick-down installation. This type of installation makes use of special techniques and needs materials that are of exact measurements. You will need to glue down the boards onto the subfloor. Like staple down wood floor installation, there is no need to call for expansion gap and skirting. A good thing about this type of installation is that it creates a reduction to the noise created when you walk upon the floor since there are layers created when you do the installation.

Real wood flooring does not require you a high level of maintenance. You just need to have regular maintenance and cleaning so that you will be able to enjoy your flooring for a longer period of time. It is important that you really set aside a time for cleaning and maintenance.
