How To Destroy the Interwebs in Three Simple Steps - By: jmjinks

As someone who loves finding new and inventive things on the web, I find that social networking sites like StumbleUpon and Digg are an interesting source of amusement. However, as every person is unique, just because I might think something is hilarious, doesn't mean the world shares my viewpoint.

Controversy is generally caused by ideas that the majority of people don't share. What kind of topic can create the most outrage? Thanks in part to my experience as a satirical writer, I can present you with the three most effective ways to piss off your average web surfer.

1. Build Your Own Demotivational Posters

For one reason or another, your average web surfer either likes demotivational posters or they despise them in every shape or form. In case you are not the type of person who keeps up with the hottest Internet trends, demotivational posters are the demented offspring of motivational posters.

You have likely seen a motivational poster on display at your dentist's office. The poster traditionally has a black background, an inspriring picture of a sunset followed by some inspirational words. Demotivational posters appear to be the same as regular motivational posters, however instead of a lovely picture of a landscape, you normally end up with a picture of someone who has just pissed their pants, followed up with a clever observation. If you absolutely hate potty humour, there is a good chance you will likely be among the scorns of people who do not like demotivational posters. Keeping that in mind, I'll likely continue creating them.

2. LOLCATS
Unless you've gouged your eyes out with a rusty spoon, there is a good chance that you have have received an e-mail involving LOLCATS.

LOLCATS are a very popular yet weird meme found all over the world wide web. Cat buffs grab pictures of their beloved feline and plaster their pic with absurd and illegible wording. The text that appears is purposely written in broken English as if the unfortunate kitten was mentally challenged. If you are easily offended by the idea that this poor feline is being compared to a brain injury victim, then you should avoid anything similar to LOLCATS. But be aware, your Inbox will still get flooded with them.

3. Rule 34

As a kid, did you spend every Saturday morning watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? Are you a Sci Fi fanatic? Have you seen every episode of Stargate SG1? Now imagine those same beloved characters intangled in acts of a sexual nature.

Welcome to Rule 34.

Rule 34 is the generally accepted rule that states that "if it exists, porn or anything connected to porn about it will exist."

Unfortunately, some things can never be unseen, and nothing on the Interwebs is sacred.
