How To Choose A Gaming Desktop PC - By: NathanT

If you join the ranks of those who have gaming desktop PCs you can consider yourself as a true gaming fan. Most people enjoy playing games, but then there are the extreme gamers how spend practically all of their waking life in front of the screen. Owning a gaming PC pretty much tells everyone that you're a true fan and part of the gaming community and not just a run of the mill gamer. Owning a powerful and lightning fast gaming rig not only enhances gaming experiences but earns you respect amongst other gamers.

You will probably be amazed with the number of machines that are available when choosing a rig. You could in fact design and build your own machine from scratch which will give you complete control over your requirements. However, considering the number of excellent machines available, you might just want to save yourself the hassle and just buy a ready-made desktop.

The difference between one gaming desktop PC and another can differ greatly speed and ability which can effect playability. PC games developed today are far more complex and detailed than ever. Compare how realistic games are today compared to the early years of gaming and you'll see a huge difference. Advancement of computer technology only encourage game designers to do the same.

It's important to avoid picking a rig which is capable of only playing present releases on the market. In a matter of months you might that your rig will start struggling with the new releases of video games. Around the world, top game designers are creating richer and more dynamic games.

You want to buy a gaming computer that can play current games on the market as well as future releases. Buying a desktop gaming machine means that you can upgrade parts, so that it is always up-to-date and powerful enough to handle new games. Investing in machine that will be good for at least a year or two will save you from having to upgrade it anytime soon however.

Obvious as it may seem, but not any PC will cut it as a gaming PC. Even if you buy a powerful regular PC it may not be enough. I realize casual gamers could probably get away with a regular desktop but if you're a serious gamer, don't. A regular PC, even if it is expensive will probably not have the best components installed for running games.

This is not to say that you won't still enjoy playing games, but you won't be playing them as they were intended to be. Desktops are great for upgrading, but if portability is essential for you, a gaming laptop is an alternative. Dell and Alienware manufacture a number of gaming laptops.

How can you make gaming the best it can be? Well, to begin with a high quality monitor can make a massive difference in visual quality. More importantly however, the computer should have a powerful and reputable graphics card such as an NVIDIA GeForce card installed. Speed is also important, so make sure it has a processor that can deliver high frame-rates.

To truly get absorbed into games you need the tools to enhance playability. Get yourself a good keyboard and mouse designed for playing games. To top it all off, you'll want decent surround speakers. It's not uncommon for real gaming fans to cash out thousands for the perfect rig.
