Want to land that trophy bass during your next tournament? Are you tired of catching small fish or not catching any fish at all? There may be some things that you are not doing or are not doing correctly. Here are some tips and ideas on how to catch a big bass.

Be Different Than The Rest

Fish are very adaptive and quickly learn what is dangerous and what is not. A new technique that helps people land trophy fish is great, but as more anglers begin to use that certain technique, fish adapt to it and avoid taking the bait so to speak. Instead of using fishing techniques that have been overused, be yourself and use your own unique presentations and try different lures or baits.

Don't Rule Out Live Bait

You'll often hear the hype about how artificial baits and lures are the way to go if you want to catch big fish, but you're not looking to simply catch big fish. You want to know how to catch a big bass, a trophy bass. Live bait is not something you should rule out. Sure it might be more inconvenient, but it can certainly increase your chances of landing the big one.

Your Gear

One thing that is just as important as lure presentation and the techniques that you use to lure fish into biting is your gear. Don't sell yourself short when it comes to the quality of the gear you are using. Be Quiet On The Water

Find The Big Bass Territory And Stick To It

One thing about bass is that they are very territorial and once they are in a specific area, they tend to stay close to that area. Take some time to explore the body of water on which you are fishing. Use polarized glasses, fish finders, and other fish finding tools to help you locate where the big boys are hanging out. Once you locate big bass territory, stick to it because chances are their going to stick around as well.

Big Bass Like Large Bait Fish

While there are many different lures and baits that you can use to catch a big bass, don't rule out the big bait fish lures or trout lures. While you might prefer using spinner baits, bass baits, and top waters, don't be afraid to cast out a good ole' bait fish or trout lure from time to time. If you have a big bass come hot on the heels of one of these, keep casting them because that's what they're looking for.

Put In The Time, Work The Lake

Perhaps the most important tip of all that you can remember when considering how to catch a big bass is that you can't catch one if you don't go fishing. To be successful you have to put in the time on the water. Don't expect to land a trophy fish within the first few casts. Work the lake as much as possible. Toss your lure into every nook and cranny that you can find along the shoreline as you never know where that trophy bass might be hanging out.
