You need to include some text on your trade show displays so customers know what type of product or service you offer, but there's a fine line between an overwhelming block of copy and not using it at all. Here are some tips that can make your displays stand out with effective use of text.

Go Big, But Keep It Short And Sweet!

Trade show stands can attract attention from far away, as long as the message is clear. This means the copy should be large enough to see from across the room, so using a large font is a necessity. Some designers might be tempted to use fun fonts, such as Curlz MT or Mistral, on their banner stands and other displays, but this can cause serious problems with readability. Stick to standard, easy to read fonts such as Arial, Times New Roman, or Franklin Gothic and your message will be easily read by all.

Bullets Make The Point

Chances are good that you'll be unable to fit all the important information on your exhibits. This is where a well-designed brochure or pamphlet comes in handy. Clients will be able to take this information back to their offices, so this is your chance to be wordy. Answer your most common questions in an FAQ section on the brochure and use compelling sales copy to really sell your product. As with the text on your trade show stands, you want to avoid large blocks of text. Instead, break up the content with paragraph breaks, subheadings, photos and more.

Using wording on trade show displays can be effective, if it's done correctly. Take care to look at your exhibit with a critical eye, otherwise you could turn away customers before they ever get to take a close look at your products or services.
