How Multifocal Contact Lenses are Better than Multifocal Glasses - By: William F Gabriel

Most middle age individuals have been told by their eye care practitioner it is time to be prescribed the dreaded multi focal. This doesn’t necessarily have to be an inconvenience. Strides in today’s technologies have made it possible for virtually every vision blurred person the opportunity to have corrective lenses. In the past few years, the option of multifocal contact lenses where not available. Many people were introduced to the multifocal lens.

In general terms the multifocal glasses contain two or more prescriptions (powers) to enable you to see all distances. Once you have lost the ability to naturally have that vision, you require a multifocal lens.

As we have all seen at one time or another, when a person wearing multifocal glasses needs to tilt their head in the direction up or down in order to view through the correct lenses. This motion can become an irritant when required to do it several times based on the nature of your activity.

The simplest of motion such as reading a book, then having to look up several times can cause a feeling of nausea. This is an impractical way to have to work or even something as simple as reading for pleasure. Multifocal contact lenses offer the ability to streamline your vision and allow you to feel a little more stabilized with your vision.

Designs are varied depending on the prescription needed and not everyone is a candidate for multifocal contact lenses. Most people who enjoy any type of activity do not want to be hindered by the use of glasses and in many instances, do not participate because of their glasses.

Once fitted, your line of vision will adjust to compensate for having two prescriptions in your contact lenses. Perhaps based on your profession, preference or plain old vanity you will weight the options of multifocal lenses. Due to the advancements in contact lenses today, many options are available. Almost every brand offers disposable lenses, accessibility seems to be endless.

One benefit to wearing multifocal contact lenses is the fact people wouldn’t even know. People will just think you have amazing sight. Instead of having to wear those pesky multifocal glasses, which always tend to be larger in size, wear contacts that do the exact same thing fitted perfectly to your eye and your sight requirements.

Online retailers, mass merchandisers and optical retailers provide many choices for the consumer. Many convenience factors are involved with wearing multifocal contact lenses. Most people today try to remain as active as possible, with little to no constraints. Having an impairment of vision remains cumbersome to many and therefore requires a solution. Multifocal contact lenses are that solution. Why wear glasses if you don’t have to?
