How Do I Fall Pregnant? - By: Dave Arnoldi

Getting pregnant is far harder for some couples than it is for others. Most couples who fail to conceive quickly assume that there is a medical reason for the infertility, and while this is indeed possible, there are a number of other lifestyle factors that influence conception or the lack thereof.

After maybe a year of trying to conceive, and of exhausting all the possible medical routes, a desperate woman may begin to look for alternative answers to the burning question “how do I fall pregnant?”

This is the time when couples begin to look at lifestyle changes and natural remedies for infertility. Many of the things people do and eat daily can inhibit and prevent your body from conceiving.

Your age and overall health can have a huge effect on your fertility. Women who are unhealthy or are over the age of thirty five have a much harder time conceiving than those who try to conceive when they are younger and who maintain a healthy lifestyle and diet. When trying to conceive, eating plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy products, starchy foods and foods that are rich is in protein is vital, not only for you, but for the as yet unconceived child. Avoid highly processed foods or foods that are rich in fats and sugar. It is also important to avoid intaking any caffeine as even as little as two cups of coffee per day can drastically reduce your chances of conception.

When trying to become pregnant, timing is everything. It is necessary that you calculate when you will be ovulating and ensure that you have sex a day or two before ovulation, which is when your ovaries release an egg. The female egg can survive for between twelve and twenty four hours after it has been released. The male sperm can survive for as many as seven days after entering the woman’s body. It is recommended that you make love regularly to increase the chances of the sperm reaching and fertilising the ova.

It is essential that you stop smoking and consuming alcohol while trying to become pregnant as well as while you are pregnant. Alcohol affects your fertility and ability to conceive. It also increases the likelihood of a miscarriage within the first trimester of pregnancy. The nicotine in cigarettes also decrease fertility, increase the chances of miscarriage, and can harm your unborn child. To increase the chances of conception, your partner should also cease both of these habits as both alcohol and nicotine reduce the sperm count and quality.
