Hot Tips on Choosing the Right Pilates Studio - Part 1: Self Assessment - By: Joanna Ng

Most of the times, Pilates beginners would like to know what Pilates is and how to embark. I remembered vividly, this person that called and with some hesitation to confess that she is new to Pilates. She is puzzled about everything like over the choice of Individual customised training vs group training, whether to take Pilates Machine classes or Pilates Mat classes. And like most beginners, she is shy to ask and confused over her choices. This article has 2 parts; Part 1 of the article aims to do a self-assessment of one's goals and needs while Part 2 of the article will address the questions to ask the Pilates Studio. Check it out before you begin.

Questions to Ask Yourself:
1. Why did you decide to start training?
2. Are you looking for general fitness or pilates pain relief, i.e. shoulder pain relief?
3. How often can you commit to your program weekly?

People who embark on Pilates are:
1. Individuals finding for pain relief
2. Folks who are tight but not having any pain.

The former do it for immediate pain relief. The second group wants to lengthen all tight muscles and enhance core strength and flexibility. Both mean an improvement in the excellence of life which usually also means it's going to have to be a long term goal.

Of course it does more than that but how badly do you want it? How firm are you? Most of the times, failure comes from the lack of commitment and determination rather than the pilates training program itself. Therefore, it is of greatest importance that you think carefully even before you decide on a pilates training program.

We will discuss about how to assess the pilates studios, the crucial questions to ask in the sequel of this article.
