Hosted PBX History - By: Rae Houchard

A little history on hosted pbx: When pbx systems were invented, the pbx system was used to route any phone call that was made inside a business organization. The pbx system, not yet hosted pbx, would only use the public telephone network, or PSTN, for an external phone call. Now, with internet growth and voip technology, pbx systems can be HOSTED pbx which means that the pbx system is outsourced instead of being on the business site. With hosted pbx, the pbx system or the private branch-exchange system, is managed by a data processor provider rather than the business itself.

If you decide on hosted pbx services today, your business will have extensive drops in phone services by paying the hosted pbx provider a small monthly fee for their phone services rather than the business having to purchase the pbx system all up front for their business campus use. Hosted pbx also unifie a business with several working business sites. All the business campuses can use the same hosted pbx system that routes each phone call rather than a pbx system on each business site. Also, the business being charged long-distance for every phone call placed to the other business campus, will have these long-distance call costs eliminated with hosted pbx.

The main reason for this trend in hosted pbx usage and interest could be the cost cuts. But, hosted pbx can also easily provide more phone services if the business grows rather than the business having to purchase a whole upgraded pbx system. All the business has to do is upgrade their hosted pbx service. Then the hosted pbx provider will move that company to a pbx system upgrade, rather than the business having to go out and purchase all new equipment and software. The ease of implementing hosted pbx systems into an already existing business infrastructure can also add to the benefits of doing a hosted pbx upgrade.

Some may think that choosing hosted pbx gives all the phone system control over to the hosted pbx provider. Any business can choose to have control of their hosted pbx system with VIRTUAL hosted pbx. Virtual hosted pbx means that the business can change and update their hosted pbx system to meet their business call needs all from their business office.

Using telephone voip service along with hosted pbx, means your business will be using the internet for your phone call needs. Hosted pbx and telephone voip service means even the traveling salesman or the employee working from home or on the road can access the hosted pbx system and voip service. Your business capabilities all of a sudden grow exponentially with the possibility of missing less phone call(s), staying connected more as a business team by communicating more with less phone costs and easier more flexible phone and hosted pbx services.

Hosted pbx services and systems are much easier to manage and implement into your business than the regular pbx phone system. GUI interfaces simplify usage of a hosted pbx system. The simplicity of using hosted pbx phone systems is also adding to the rising in popularity of hosted pbx usage.
