Although when the symptoms are severe and harsher in nature diverticulitis requires greater medical attention, a mild case of it can be easily treated by using home remedies. Home remedies help checking the Diverticulitis in the early stages. Taking prevention from the early stages enables one to stop severe damage of the colon. By fighting the temptation junk food offers and by taking a little care one can almost be certain to avoid further complications.

If someone experiences even the slightest symptoms of diverticulitis, immediate actions should be taken. The first should be to regulate the Diverticulitis Diet. One should avoid taking large meals and cut down the 3 large meals a day to 5-6 short meals. This will give ample time to the digestive system to carry out the digestion process and would also exert less pressure on the colon. In addition to this precautionary measure, one can also try these few home remedies which can effectively cure diverticulitis at its initial stage -

1) Garlic - garlic lays a great part in invigorating the metabolism. It has properties hat helps in strengthening the digestive system. It removes all the toxic wastes from the body if taken in limited quantity. A clove of garlic taken thrice a day can prove really helpful in keeping diverticulitis at bay.

2) Papaya - papaya helps greatly in the digestion process. Papaya contains 'papain' which is an aid to digestion. Papaya can be eaten in form of juice, as a fruit or along with honey. Irrespective to the way it is eaten, papaya helps in cleaning the digestive tract.

3) Pear - pear is another fruit that proves to be quite helpful when a person is suffering from diverticulitis. One can bake the fruit or make pear juice. However pear is eaten as it is. This fruit helps in reducing the inflammation and stabilizing the condition of the patient.

4) Brown rice - white rice is the most common form of rice eaten by people all over the world. However, brown rice is much better from the digestion point of view. Rich in fiber, brown rice helps in preventing diverticulitis to occur. The high fiber content in the brown rice helps in proper digestion preventing inflammation and infection in the diverticulosis.

The main reason for diverticulitis is the low fiber content in the diet. If one includes adequate amount of fiber in their diet then diverticulitis can be easily prevented. High fiber diet along with lots of water helps in reducing the pressure from the colon and making the stool more bulky and soft.
