Sinusitis is an inflammation of the lining of the sinuses. Causes of Sinusitis

2. Bacteria: Blocked sinus openings and the resulting accumulation of mucus creates an ideal environment for bacterial growth. This prevents the cilia from working properly and causes the mucous membrane to swell.
3. Allergens: Allergens that can trigger sinusitis include airborne particles, animal dander and certain foods.
4. Virus: A viral infection can destroy or paralyze the cilia, leading to accumulation of mucus.
Symptoms of Sinusitis
1. Drainage of a thick, yellow or green discharge from the nose or back of the throat
2. Nasal obstruction or congestion, causing difficulty breathing through the nose
3. Pain, tenderness and swelling around the eyes, cheeks, nose or forehead
4. Decreased sense of smell and taste
Treatment for Sinusitis
1. Inhalation of vapor - breathed in the steam from a bowl of hot water - not boiling. The water may have a few drops of menthol oil. Although patients are experiencing some relief, this treatment has not been scientifically proven. Standing or sitting in a wet shower can sometimes provide the same effect.
2. Nasal irrigation - this is also known as sinus irrigation, sinus rinse or sinus lavage. Is a procedure that consists of a home saltwater rinse to clean the nostrils.
3. Heating pad - if you apply a hot compress gently to the affected areas of the face may get some relief of symptoms.
4. Sleep with your head up - when you go to bed some pillows to prop your head is higher than usual. This can reduce the amount of pressure around the sinuses and reduce the discomfort and pain.

2. Fenugreek seed tea prepared form is also a very effective home remedies for sinusitis. Put a teaspoon of fenugreek seeds in about two cups of water and boil until half time the water evaporates. Drink this tea when cool. This will make you sweat and therefore all will be thrown out toxins from your body. You can also drink fenugreek tea on a daily basis, as this prevents the sinus infection away.
3. Garlic and onions are also effective in the treatment of sinusitis. You should use these two abundantly in cooking your meals. However, in case you've never used garlic and onion during the cooking, then start by putting fewer of these two things and then increase gradually.
4. One very effective treatment for sinusitis is cumin seeds. Take a thin cotton cloth and tie around a teaspoon of cumin seeds. Keep the cloth and kept in the same breath. This is very effective at the opening of a stuffy nose.
5. Drink hot vegetable juice is also one of the best remedies for sinusitis.
