Holidays in Italy: amusement parks by the sea - By: albapp

Among the many tourists that come everyyear to our country (5,3% more than last year, as shown by data gathered from Federalberghi), many choose to spend their holidays in Emilia Romagna, a region that offers a great combination of beaches, culture and leisure alternatives. The towns in this part of the Adriatic coast are, in fact, a great alternative for young and adult tourists travelling in families or groups.

In addition, many European families choose these area in the North of Italy for its great variety of amusement parks, a range that is also rich in themes and activities, them being focused on areas such as marine life, historical heritage and history.

One of these parks is Parco Oltremare, inaugurated in 2004 and one of the most visited attractions of Riccione. In its surface of over 110.000 square meters, it is possible to find a truly impressive selection of marine species, spectacular shows and many educational initiatives for children and adults. The park has, indeed, a ludic character, although great attention is focused on educating and training visitors on the importance of preserving the marine environment and protecting the general wellbeing of the planet. A special section in the form of a glass and stainless steel pavilion is dedicated to Darwin and the evolution theories that explain the richness of the many species in exhibition at the park.

The projects in collaboration with scientific institutions are also numerous. Definitely worth of mention are the marine tortoises in process of recovery that Parco Oltremare receives in its structure since 2010.

The 2012 season will open at the end of March with the Grand Maths Party, that from Saturday 24 to sunday 25 will transform the park in a didactic and fascinating scenario where many shows and activities will take place, all correlated to the magic of numbers and its relationship with the cinema, the Nature, the arts, music and the many scientific principles that surround us in our everyday life.

The novelty of the season is the “Meet the Dolfin” initiative, a really special opportunity, available all weekends through which tourists can participate in a real training session with the dolphins of the park, guided by professional trainers.

For all those tourists that come to the Italian coast and that wish to follow on the aquatic theme, Riccione proposes a visit to Acquafan, who will open its doors on June 1st 2012 and who will offer like every year since its opening a great variety of water rides as well as a series of activities that have been greatly appreciated by young national and international visitors: the Nights in Acquafan have become a meeting event youngsters look forward to, a disco-like environment with music, deejays and of course, water. In 2011 the park opened at night on six different occasions. Dates for 2012 are still to be determined.

For those tourists that visit the park during the day, the value offer is as attractive as ever, specially for the Europeans that come to Italy looking for warmer weather and hot days to be spend among water slides (Acquafan’s River Run is over 200 meters long) and wave pools.
