What are woolly mammoths?

Mammoths are ancient mammals, live on the earth about 5 million years ago in Asia, Europe and North America. Most of their populations live in North America. They are “Grand father” of today’s elephants. They eat green plants, moss, sedge and even pine needles.

One of their families ‘Mammuthus primigenius’ is called woolly mammoths or tundra mammoth. They have large hair on their fur and thick layer of fat under fur, which help them to protect from cold. They have large fighting teeth which help them for finding food and protect them from the attacks of flash eater animals. These teeth’s, which called ‘Ivory’, are rounded from front and long about 10 fetes. They are 2-3 times larger then today’s elephants.

How we know about mammoths?

The first fossils are found in Siberia. This mammoth was fall into the ice filled gully and died by breaking of bones. Thus preserved for million of years in “natural freezer” until researchers found its fossils. From fossils of this mammoth, scientist assumes that they come to Siberia in the find of foods about 10,000 years ago, because of the plants which they eat, are end due to the insufficient weather, on their living places.

When they faces the cold of ice age, at the same time stone age mans live in cave. They made their weapons from stone and hunt animals for their food. They also attack on woolly mammoths to get their hot fur to protect from cold and precious tooth’s by which they make women’s jeweler.

How woolly mammoths died?

1-1/2 million years ago, in the last ice age, when every thing on the earth freezes. Cold affected on every thing of earth like plants, animals and every woolly mammoth. Most of scientist considers that the mammoths are ended due to the shortage of food, unsuitable weather and other natural facts. They says that their real place is North America but their fossils found in Asia which shows that they face the shortage of food which force them to travel toward green areas.
