Our stomach produces acid to digest the food that we eat. This is a regular and natural process. Whenever we eat, cells within the inside layer of the stomach pump acid to liquefy your sumptuous dinner, from mash potatoes to a slab of steak.

You might have experienced severe indigestion and chest pain after having food, usually during night hours. Occasionally, you may feel sick and tumefied after having hot food. All these are the symptoms of acid reflux.

Acid reflux is also known as GERD (gastro-esophageal reflux disease). Dietary and lifestyle changes, genetic attribute and Candida infection are some of the ordinary causes of acid reflux. Here are some natural treatments to alleviate acid reflux attacks.

Treatment of Acidity

Apple Cider Vinegar. It doesn't seem like it would work, but it works better than anything else.

The acid of many acidic substance outside of the body actually become alkaline once they are ingested. It balances the acid in the tummy so that you don't have to produce too much of your own stomach acid to digest foods.

Make a fine powder of ginger face powder, black pepper, dried mint leaves, asafetida (hing), anise seeds, coriander seeds, cumin, fennel and familiar salt taken equally. Take one teaspoon of this powder with water, twice a day after meals.

Include green leafy vegetables and sprout in your diet. These contain vitamins B and E which aid digestion and also facilitate the removal of acids from the body. ‘Raita’ prepared from cucumber and salads are a tried and trusted digestive aid.

Maintaining a standing posture for some time after food will help in preventing reaction.

1-2 teaspoon juice of chebulic myroblan is taken daily is highly useful in the treatment of acidity and heart burn. For better results the juice can be diverse with equal amount of amla juice.

Pour one cup of boiling water over a piece of ginger, tsp ground cloves and tsp cinnamon. Filter it, sweeten with honey and have it sip by sip. This helps when there is mucus in the cough.

Home Remedies for Acidity

1. Chew a few holy basil (tulsi ) leaves to get relief from on fire, nausea and gas. It is an effective home remedy for acidity.

2. Keep a small piece of jaggery (gur) in your mouth and slowly suck it. Repeat it every hour till acidity subsides.

3. Eat watermelon, banana or cucumber every hour. It is also a good remedy for acidity.

4. Eat a few almonds when your feel heartburn symptoms.

5. Drink coconut water 4-5 times a day. It is a ordinary natural remedy for acidity.

6. Drink a glass of cold milk for fast relief of heartburn and acidity.

7. Keep a small piece of harad (Terminalia chebula) in your mouth and chew it after every meal.

8. Take one piece of clove and suck on it slowly.

9. Drink fresh mint juice slowly after meals. It will give you immediate acidity relief.
