Hemorrhoids Can Be Created By Habits - By: Tim Kessler

One of the major causes of hemorrhoids are our habits. The lifestyle we lead, things we do or do not do and our personal hygiene will determine whether or not we are likely to get this extremely inconvenient and embarrassing problem. Once you find out what caused your hemorrhoids it will speed up your healing process and stop them from happening again in the future. So what are the habits that cause hemorrhoids?

Bad Physical Habits

Sitting down too long. When you sit down, you are placing the majority of your weight on your buttocks which escalates the pressure placed on your rectal veins. If you work at a desk, it always a good idea to get up ever hour or so and do a little stretch to reduce that pressure.

Standing up too long. Surprising, isn't it?  As you stand, gravity pulls your blood down to your lower regions which will cause a build up of pressure at your rectum area. If you work standing up a lot, take a short break ever hour or so and sit down.

Bad Toilet Habits

Sitting on the throne too long. This is similar to sitting at the desk too long. But in this case not only is your body weight pressing down on your buttocks but the straining of bowel movement is increasing that pressure. Do not read the newspaper or a book on the throne. Get in, do your business and get out.

Overstraining. A huge no no. Overstraining will cause the muscle lining in your rectal region to be weaker. Eventually, hemorrhoids will develop. The method of not needing to overstrain is to eat lots of fiber and drink a lot of water. This will soften your stool, making it easy when you need to release.

Not answering nature's call. Do not delay going to the toilet. Your body absorbs nutrient and moisture as much as it needs. This is done throughout the inner organs. When you don't go to the toilet on time will give your body the extra time to absorb the excess moisture in your stool, making it harder.

Bad Dietary Habits

Drinking not enough water. Dehydration makes your body to absorb moisture every chance it can get. This will cause the stool it develops to be very hard and painful to exit. Consuming lots of water will soften your stool a lot.

Not eating fiber. Make sure you get enough fiber. There is no such thing as too much. Fiber makes your stool soft and easy to release.
