An OCD person will have difficulties in maintaining friendship with others. Real friends find it hard to see the suffering of an OCD friend. Usually, you may feel that you lost your friend because they are often consumed of their OCD disorder that they have no time for friendship anymore. It's normal to have tough reactions about these circumstances. Your feelings may also vary from disappointment, anger, resentment to humiliation and frustration.

There are many reasons why a friend with OCD needs help. Having knowledge regarding this may give you enlightenment and encourage you to help your OCD friend. Most of them are misunderstood and they have few friends because of this disorder. It's not easy to bear this and a real friend is needed by them.

Primarily, you need to understand the problems behind OCD. You will know that your friend has OCD because he or she normally annoy or irritate you by their manifested symptoms. Just be reminded that they don't intentionally want to do this, they just can't stop because you want them to. Bear in mind and understand that whenever OCD is present, your friend is no longer the one that is in control but it's the OCD that's manifesting.

OCD is a neurobiological anxiety disorder that affects the brain function of an individual. So if your friend has OCD, they will react in a way the brain with OCD wants them to act. They don't ask to have this nor their fault of having OCD. It's their brain that is having problems that made them do such actions. Persons who have OCD are living as a result of the brain sending messages that are inaccurate to resulting in negative reaction towards others, such as fears and worries that is above normal reaction.

Seeing your friend doing ritualistic behaviors and actions, hoarding things that are no longer significant, asking questions over and over again, or even not giving importance on their family members at you is really annoying and frustrating. However, you must know that this is their coping mechanism. All compulsions served as coping mechanisms and they are carried out in a challenge to stop their obsessions.

You can very much improve and help your friend's possibility of improvement from OCD simply by not accommodating the OCD behavior and just focus on the safety and the things that help your friend.
