If you are living around country side then your experience about the nature would be very positive. Except peaceful living fresh air and fresh vegetables are always positive assets of village living. Those who live in village would be facing various problems that a city dweller does not face. The problem of fuels here, are very common. Electricity plays a game of i-spy every day. And people do not get a benefit of warm water or food cooked on electricity. Very many people in the village still use cakes of cow dung to prepare their food. Their houses are usually made of thatch. In winter season they cook on the cakes of cow dung which is an indirect medium to keep their house warm. The urban use fireplace, heater and other modes to keep them warm in the winter season but the villagers have the only option of warming them in winter. The urban dwellers have different story of winter. They use room heater, blower, and geyser to make them warm in winter. Although these arrangements are harmful for the health but they make several management so that the fume that arise from the burning of these heating systems may not affect their health. In this regard we people are very witty and do not forget to open the doors and windows while using any heating system during winter or in any other season.

General findings

  • In winter people keep their door close and keep close their windows when there is no power supply. They do it so that the cold air should not enter into the room.

  • Blankets and quilts are used to keep warm and heavy clothes are worn during winter to for heating.

  • The cracks of the doors and windows can be covered throughout winter so that cooling cannot come in.

  • Painting the walls with the thick paint eliminates chill and protects the heat to go out from the room.

  • The fireplace is a good medium to keep the room warm for a long time. it also works in the absence of electricity.


Self arranged ventilation

While using fireplace in a room you must keep in notice that the fume should not collect in the room. The risen fume may cause trouble to you. For ventilation of fumes, there should be a short window down the roof so that fume may go out without any problem. The exhaust fan is another option to push the fumes out of the room. There are number of ventilating ideas and systems available in the market that can help you out from this problem.
