HealthRider Treadmill Reviews - By: Robin OBrien

If you're serious about exercise then HealthRider treadmills aren't for you. But, if you're just a novice with not much history of exercise, or are a serious outdoor runner looking for a treadmill for occasional use, or are on a tight budget, then a HealthRider might be ideal. He's a quick review and ratings of HealthRider treadmills, to help you decide.

HealthRider machines are made by Icon Health and Fitness, which is the world's largest manufacturer of exercise equipment. It makes many well known models like Weider, Nordic Track, Reebok and Weslo treadmills. You can expect to pay something in the region of $400 to $1500 depending on the model of HealthRider you opt for.

As already stated, they aren't made for the serious runner, instead this company'smachines are all about innovative technology, that's easy-to-use, is low-impact and, above all, is enjoyable.

What is good about HealthRider Treadmills

The machines are iFit compatible. The iFIT system uses a 'virtual' certified personal trainer to guide you through a complete workout. It works by sending digital cues from the iFIT.com web site, compact discs, and videos to vary resistance, speed, and incline functions according to workouts developed by iFIT.com personal trainers. Internet connection isn't necessary to use it, as the CDs and videos that come with the HealthRider machines have many goal specific workouts. iFIT can really motivate and make using a treadmill fun.

They also come with SoftTrack cushioning to help protect knees, hips and ankles. The SoftTrack treadbelt consists of a durable polyurethane cushioning fused directly to the treadbelt for impact absorption with a second impact-isolation system under the deck.

Grip Pulse sensors are incorporated into the hand grips of the machines so you can measure your heart rate.

Some models come with 2 CoolAire fans to help keep you cool during your workout.

What is bad about HealthRider Treadmills

While all models come with good sales features, they do lack a lot of what a good treadmill should be all about such as strong motor power, excellent warranty, and stability. It's true that many of the company'smachines do have large belts but the motor lacks the power to back it up (2.0 HP or lower). If you use the treadmill a lot you can expect to burn out your motor in a fairly short space of time.

The best quality macines come with great warranties, not so with HealthRider machines. With most of its models you get a paltry 90 day limited warranty - the best machines come with warranties that last years. With a warranty like this you can guess as to the quality of the parts and construction used in making a HealthRider treadmill.

There's not much else to say about HealthRider treadmills. Most trade reviews are less than complimentary; however this isn't a surprise as most trade articles are written by exercise freaks who expect to attain Olympic fitness using a treadmill. But for many, especially those who like to use equipment that is fun, buying a HealthRider machines could be the perfect choice.
