Health Food Shop Retail Kiosks Advising Customers on Health Issues - By: S.Roberts

Thanks to increasingly innovative technologies and creative applications, self-service retail kiosks are now more relevant to the retail industry than ever before. From virtual salespeople, to helpful advisory kiosks, retailers have seemingly endless opportunities to reach shoppers using kiosks and other digital displays. For health food stores, retail kiosks are an obvious solution for selling specialised items and for cross selling items to people who have an interest in health foods, herbal remedies, health and wellbeing.

An Extension of an Existing Website
A health food shop retail kiosk can be an extension of your website, featuring all the websites special offers and adverts. This helps with brand awareness and can help visitors identify with the kiosk.

Seasonal Promotions
As I am sure you are already aware; seasonal promotions are always a winner and advertising Zinc and Vitamin C in the winter when another new strain of flu is looming will always help to increase sales. However, unlike posters pushing vitamins to increase immune systems, retail kiosks can play audio and videos, which offers much more powerful advertising to passing customers.

When a user is not accessing a kiosk, the kiosk behaves like as a digital display, playing pre-set adverts and promotions. This not only advertises to shoppers in the store but also bring the kiosk to their attention, and makes known other services that the kiosk could perform for them.

When a user is interacting with the retail kiosk there is an opportunity for the kiosk to cross sell products, it does this through advertising and also thought survey software.

Wellbeing Survey
The wellbeing survey is a series of questions about the users general health. Such as, are you feeling well? Do you feel you need more energy? Are you getting enough sleep? What colour are your fingernails?

The information gathered from the survey is not stored, but it is used to offer the user a health guide. Depending on the answers given, the kiosk will suggest a few products, which might help to improve the health of the customer. The suggested items would be vitamins that would be helpful to someone who has described some of the health issues gathered in the survey.

A disclaimer is also attached to the guide with a recommendation that the user visits a GP for a health check up.

Particular Health Related Issue
An area of the kiosk can be for users to describe a particular health problem they might have. They might type in that they are suffering from indigestion a lot for example. The kiosk then searches its database of symptoms and remedies and suggests a list of products to try.

Again the report would have a disclaimer attached recommending a visit to their GP.

All suggested product lists can be either emailed to the user for their own records, it can be printed out so that the customer can find the products in the shop.

Request a Free Catalogue
Requesting a free catalogue on a kiosk is a great way for the kiosk to collect customer data for future advertising campaigns. The customer could request that a catalogue be posted out to their address or emailed to them.

With all the advantages a kiosk can bring to a health food store at very small out lay, I am sure you will agree that few industries stand to gain more from self-service than retail. Kiosks can serve all of your customer's needs discreetly and politely, whilst cross selling other products. Supermarkets and shops reporting good ROI from retail kiosks support the view that retail kiosks give the in-store shopping experience a significant boost.
