Harbhajan Singh, also called as ‘bhajji’ by his team mates, was born on 3rd July 1980 to a middle class Sikh family. Harbhajan Singh house was in Jalandhar in the Indian state of Punjab. He is wonderful spin bowler and played many match winning innings for India. He holds the record of second highest test wickets as a spin bowler, only behind Sri-Lankan spin attack bowler Mutthiah Muralitharan.

Harbhajan Singh debuted in the test and one day international matches in the year 1998 and proved to be a great spinner of the bowl while playing against team Australia and took hat-trick wickets. India won that match against Australia. However, during the initial period of his matches, his unusual bowling action was put under investigation by the cricket board and also for his behavioural issues. Harbhajan Singh got a golden opportunity when Anil Kumble, India’s leading spin bowler was injured during a series in 2001 and then Indian Captain Saurav Ganguly wanted to include him in the squad. Harbhajan Singh shined in these matches against Australia and India won the series. In that series alone, he took 32 wickets that made him the first Indian cricketer to take hat-trick wicket in a test series.

Harbhajan Singh controversy is well known among cricket enthusiasts. He was banned from many matches by ICC (International Cricket Council) in 2008 for racial comments against Australian cricketer Andrew Symonds. His ban was later revoked upon appeal from the team mates. However, he was banned from playing any IPL matches and ODI matches by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) when he slapped fellow team mate Sreesanth during a match. His appearing in the Royal Stag advertisement without a turban created a lot of disturbance among the Sikh community, that lead to many protests against him. He reacted very quickly to this situation and apologized to them.

Harbhajan Singh girlfriend information is not available, but he has been linked with many women in the past. He rubbished rumours of his marriage linking him to a Bangalore based bride in 2005. He clarified in a statement that he would be getting married to a Punjabi girl as selected by his family and he would decide upon this matter in a couple of years.

Harbhajan Singh won many awards for his exceptional performance in both test cricket and ODI matches.

In Test cricket series, he won Man of the series award thrice from 2000 to 2008 and Man of the match award six times from 2000 to 2011.
