Hannah Montana Toys Christmas 2008 - By: stephenstewart

There are Teenage Sensations and there are Teenage Sensations and without wishing to labour the point Hannah Montana certainly fits into this bill. As a pop star with mass appeal to kids there can be no denying the success she has had. Nor indeed the success of the toys and associate merchandise that she brings. So as far as we are concerned Hannah Montana Toys fits into our criteria as one of the “must have” toys this Christmas.

So what about Christmas in general? OK, Christmas first and then an explanation about the toys later.

Christmas also referred to as Christmas Day or Christmastide, is an annual holiday celebrated on December 25 that marks and honours the birth of Jesus of Nazareth. As with most things historical, the truth is actually slightly different from the fiction and due to a change in Calendar systems in the 1500’s from the old Julian Calendar to the Gregorian Calendar, named after the then Pope, Pope Gregory VIII it would appear that though we celebrate Christmas day as the anniversary of Christ’s birth, the actual birth date may now differ slightly.

Nowadays to be brutally blunt, the holiday is all about commercialism, the purchasing of gifts and the giving of these gifts but lets not create too much of a downer on the entire season, who doesn’t like receiving gifts? Modern customs of the holiday include gift-giving, church celebrations, and the display of various decorations—including the Christmas tree, lights, mistletoe, nativity scenes and holly.

Also celebrated as a secular festival as well as being honoured by the worlds Christian population, the percentage of those who celebrate Christmas continues to rise. The holiday is widely celebrated around the world, including in the United States, where it is celebrated by 96% of the population. As has been mentioned the number of those worldwide celebrating Christmas has grown almost exponentially to appoint where for example, in the USA, it is reckoned that Christmas is celebrated by over 96% of the population.

It is the gift giving element that has turned Christmas , as far as the retailers are concerned into one of the most important times of the year. An inescapable fact and by product of modern day life, whether we like it or not is that Christmas is now arguably more important to retailers than to anyone else.

So where does the tradition of giving presents originate from?

It has been argued that though originating from an interpretation of Christmas as seen through the eyes of the Western world characterized by the giving of gifts, these gifts have been attributed to the character called Father Christmas (otherwise accredited or known as Santa Claus, Saint Nicholas or St Nikolaus, Sinterklaas or Kris Kringle amongst others). The widely accepted concept and image of Santa Claus is widely held to be attributed to the American Cartoonist of German origin, Thomas Naast who drew a new image annually beginning in 1863. By the 1880s, Nast's Santa had evolved into the form we now recognize.

The current tradition in several Latin American countries (such as Venezuela) holds that while Santa makes the toys, he then gives them to the Baby Jesus, who is the one who actually delivers them to the children's homes. This story is meant to be a reconciliation between traditional religious beliefs and modern day globalization, most notably the iconography of Santa Claus imported from the United States.

So to arguably to one of this years must have toys, the various toys that accompany the Hannah Montana Bandwagon.

Well for starters there is the Hannah Montana Air Guitar which makes all the kids able to play along with all of Hannah’s songs. The Hannah Montana DVD Game which is an ideal way for the kids to find out who the true Hannah Montana Trivial Fans are. Alongside this there is the Light up Dance Lounge, the In-Concert Pop Stage, and the Dance Mat - this kid has it all and is certainly due to be one of the most popular Pop and toy sensations of 2009 as well.
