There are people willing to tolerate this situation but the problem of having halitosis, especially if it gets worse, causes headaches to the one breathing it in. The patient having halitosis may not be able to notice or sense he or she is having the problem because most of those who can notice are the other people. Some people though can notice that they have bad breath when they are talking or yawning early in the morning after waking up.

Halitosis or dårlig ånde is caused by the foods you eat, your lifestyle and some health problems. Severe halitosis is also a symptom of having internal health problems.

  • If you are facing halitosis or dårlig ånde, there are certain preventions for it like toothpastes, mouthwashes, mints and many other products that are made to counterattack this situation but these products are only temporary. But most bad breath can be prevented by changing dental habits such as brushing your tongue and teeth every after meal, using dental flosses and drinking lots of water. If this persists, you may need to consult your dentist.
  • If the cause of your halitosis or dårlig ånde is due to the build up of plaque in your teeth, your dentist will recommend you to use mouth wash to kill the bacteria building up the plaque in your teeth. Sometimes your dentist will recommend you to use toothpaste that has antibacterial agent to destroy the bacteria that causes the buildup of plaque.

  • Sometimes the one causing bad breath is gum disease. If the dentist finds out about this, he or she will refer you to a gum specialist, also known as the periodontist. Some gum diseases cause the gums to pull away, leaving tiny pockets for the build up of bacteria. The only way that this can be prevented is a professional clean up.

  • If the dentist finds out that there is a more serious condition that is causing bad breath, he or she will recommend you to a doctor that can find what causes your bad breath.
