This temple is dedicated to "Hadimba Devi", the wife of Bhim. As mentioned in the pages of the Indian epic 'Mahabharata', Bhim was one of the five Pandava brothers who married Hadimba in this place and had a son. The temple was built in the name of Hadimba by her devotees, a few years later after she left the place. The pagoda style structure of the temple has the footprints of Hadimba which are being worshiped by the religious followers.

The most striking part of the temple is that there is no idol within it. A 24 m high tower structure of the temple with the three layered square roofs of timber tiles and the conical roof of metal, indeed make the temple look different from traditional temples. For the tourists visiting this temple is often considered as one of the important aspects of the tour. The temple is also popular for organizing a fair every year in the memory of Raja Bahadur Singh, who was the one behind establishing this temple. The fair held here is best known as Bahadur Singh Re Jatar, mostly among the local people. Another fair which is specially held for celebrating the birthday of Devi Hadimba is equally significant for the tourists and the local people. The local women from Dungri forest participate in the music and dance programs that are being organized during the fair for celebrating the festival with full passion and devotion.
