The Home Office is a government department in UK that is responsible for a national effort to protect individuals from crime, terrorism and anti-social behavior. There are seven main objectives that are linked with the UK Home Office and all contribute to the department's mission towards protecting the public. The 7 objectives are: helping people feel secure in their communities and homes, reducing crime (especially when linked with alcohol, drugs or extreme violence), protecting individuals from terrorism, leading responsive, visible and accountable policing, protect the identity of people and the privileges offered by citizenship, securing the borders and controlling migration with country benefits in mind and supporting the effective and efficient delivery of justice. HSMP and Home Office are working in connection as there is a need to properly calculate and give away HSMP certifications for immigrants that are looking forward to achieving what they want in UK. The HSMP UK was created for individuals that are highly skilled and want to come to the UK or remain in the country with the purpose of seeking employment or self-employment. The good news is that you do not need to have a prior offer for a job for getting your visa application approved by the Home Office's Immigration and Nationality Directorate. Application is also available for those that are looking to come to UK and seek jobs or self-employment opportunities. There are various web sites available, including an official HSMP web site and the government Home Office web site that will aid you in applying directly to Work Permits in UK and obtain the official approval letter required. Then you will be able to prepare the application in order to give it to the British Embassy or Consulate present in the country of residence. Special requirements are in effect for immigrants that live in Great Britain with a visa (but not a visitor one) as application can be given directly to the Home Office.

HSMP and Home Office are linked to some extend but you need to understand that they are two different things. HSMP is the certification and Home Office is the government department that you need to be in a connection with in order to obtain HSMP certification.
