Guidelines On Buying The Perfect Running Shoes - By: ArticleSubmit Auto

Many people these days would like to exercise more, and lose weight. Whether it's a New Year's resolution, or simply the determination to take better care of your health, exercise is always in the forefront of people's minds. And recently, more and more people have taken up running to do just that. It's flexible, it doesn't require any gym memberships, and you can do it as often and as long as you want. If you are interested in starting a running program, and aren't sure exactly what shoe to buy, then this article is for you. I'll go over some basic information to arm yourself with before you go shopping, so you'll have a much better chance of buying the perfect shoe.

The first thing you'll need to do is take your time making sure the shoe actually fits. You can do this fairly easily before you leave from home. Make an outline of your bare foot, while standing, on a piece of paper. Then get two sticks. Cut one stick so that it's half an inch longer than the length of your foot. Then cut the other stick so it's a quarter inch longer that the widest part of your foot. Use this sticks inside any potential shoes to make sure they are long enough, and wide enough.

After that, you'll need to have a basic idea of how you actually run. Have somebody watch you, and pay attention to how you land. Do you land on the inside, or the outside of your feet? Do you land on your heel, or the balls of your feet? Do you run with your feet pointing straight forward, or are they open up a little bit? This will have an impact on which shoe, as different shoes are designed for different kinds of runners.

One more consideration is how much you'll actually use your shoes. Be careful of overestimating on this one. Many people tell themselves they'll run every day for thirty minutes, but end up running every other day for fifteen minutes. Be realistic. Have an idea of about how far you'll be running per week. There's no sense buying shoes designed for marathon training if you only plan on running on the weekends.

Naturally, your budget is important. Make sure you have a good idea of your price range before you go shopping. Otherwise you may spend much more than you need. This is important especially if you are just starting out. Choosing a budget beforehand is a great way to save money.

When you know all this information before going shopping, you'll have a much better chance of buying the right shoe, which of course will give you a much better chance of sticking to your plan to exercise and lose weight.
