Guide To Elviria Marbella - By: Robert Griggs

Elviria is a charming little town on the Costa del Sol, and is a popular tourist destination as well as a great place for expatriates to settle. As with the other settlements on the Costa del Sol, Elviria is blessed by year-round sunshine making it a perfect place to visit or to live at any time of the year.

It is a natural paradise, surrounded by the stunning Sierra Blanca mountains, the glorious Mediterranean Sea with its beautiful sandy beaches, and wonderful countryside, meaning there is something for everyone to enjoy here. It has a rustic feel to it, and yet has made a name for itself as a popular tourist destination. On top of that, the variety of things on offer makes it particularly suited to families.

Bars And Restaurants

You need have no fear that you will not be catered for in terms of bars and restaurants when you visit Elviria. The town has a wide variety of both, providing plenty of places to relax and unwind with a drink, as well as numerous places to enjoy a range of cuisine from all over the world. As far as entertainment goes, if you want to enjoy a night out then there are also a number of great wine bars that you can take advantage of in the evenings.

Sports

As with many locations on the Costa del Sol, one of the most popular activities that takes place in Elviria is golf. There are numerous golf courses all around the area, from El Soto de Marbella course in La Mairena with nine holes, to the Santa Maria Golf and Country Club with its 18-hole golf course.

As well as golf, tennis is another of the most popular sports in the area. One of the reasons for this is the superb El Casco Tennis Club which has excellent facilities for anyone wanting to get active on the courts.

Property

If you are considering purchasing a property in Elviria then you should be warned that it is slightly on the high side when compared to other locations on the Costa del Sol. But the reason for this is that it is one of the most desirable places to live, and the price rise should therefore definitely be considered worth it.

Overall the town is very residential with lots of expatriates choosing to live there and a number, and there are also numerous holiday homes for tourists. Most houses are not too far away from the beach so wherever you stay or choose to live you should not have to make too much effort to find your way to the sand.

On top of that, many of the new developments are of a very high quality, and most of them enjoy spectacular views over the Mediterranean Sea making them very desirable.

Amenities

There is plenty on offer in Elviria whether you are simply there on holiday or have made your home in the town. Not much is lacking, and you can find a post office, a town hall, a number of shops and even a school. For all the basics there are a number of supermarkets that you can use to carry out your weekly shopping, including some names that you might already know such as Lidl.

Beaches

If you stay in Elviria then you are likely to be just a stone's throw away from one of the beaches, and you certainly have a lot to enjoy in that department. The beaches at Elviria are some of the best that the Costa del Sol has to offer, with White Pearl Beach probably being the most well known. You’ll be able to relax and sunbathe, swim in the warm water or enjoy some of the water sports that are on offer.

Surrounding Area

Elviria is perfectly situated to put it within easy reach of a number of other attractions and settlements along the Costa del Sol.

La Mairena should not be missed if you are in Elviria. This is only seven kilometres from the town if you drive up into the mountains, and here you will find a number of upmarket apartments and villas. It is surrounded by the beauty of the mountain area, and the views to be had are stunning. In testament to its beauty and importance it has been declared a UNESCO World Biosphere Reservation, which means building is restricted in the area to preserve the natural feel.

If you fancy a short drive then you can head either to Calahonda or to Marbella which is only 10 minutes away by car. There is also a bus service to both places if you do not have your own transport.

One of the best things about Elviria is its accessibility. As it is only 20 kilometres from Malaga Airport, it is easy to access from anywhere in Europe. So whether you are visiting on holiday or living in the town permanently, getting there and away will never cause any problems.
