Great Tips To Help Select The Menu For A Bridal Shower - By: Allan Michael Taylor

The process of selecting an appropriate menu for bridal shower guests can be fun or terrifying, depending on the number of invitees and the kind of party you are planning. You are fortunate in that there is a vast assortment of appropriate foods that you may use, making meeting everyone's needs much less challenging than you expected. You should take into consideration several aspects including: the bride, the guests, and your budget, when making your menu selections.

Obviously, the bride should be the primary person to be considered when selecting the food offerings for her shower. She will not enjoy herself if the selections are items that she will not eat or find delectable. To the best of your ability, select foods that you know she prefers, maybe something she has spoken about or perhaps hinted at that she would like to have served. As the bridal shower host, you probably are a friend who has spent enough time with her to know her food preferences.

Secondly, the guests should be considered. This involves a couple of different concerns. Although the bride's preferences are considered primarily, they don't need to completely overrule the needs of the guests. No one will have a good time at the party which caters only to the tastes of the bride. Should that be the case, you will have many hungry people to deal with. If you know that the bride's first choice is something nobody else will touch, you should consider leaving this item off the menu and going to the second choice. The second issue is allowing for any individual requirements.

You may have guests on your list who are allergic to certain items or have dietary restrictions. It would be in poor taste to have a menu loaded with sweets and have a couple of people who suffer from diabetes in attendance. Vegetarians in attendance would not appreciate a menu comprised of only meat dishes. Provide a variety of foods that will appeal to everyone's tastes or dietary restrictions, and they can avoid those items that are not consistent with their special needs.

Your budget is the final issue that you will face when working on the menu for a bridal shower. The bride may desire caviar and champagne, but your financial resources may only allow tuna and apple cider. It is advantageous to choose menu items that are regularly used in the preparation of your own menu at home. While you may purchase some things for special happenings, do not have items which you would not purchase for any occasion.

You can look at planning the bridal shower menu much as you would look at preparing a menu for a get together at your home. You want to make special consideration for the guest of honor, in this case, the bride. You also want to accommodate the guests with food that they will enjoy while making allowance for any special situations. When purchasing your food, be sure to provide ample amounts while maintaining your budget. The planning of a bridal shower is sometimes hard enough by itself without complicating the matter by worrying too much about planning the food for the guests.
