In addition to these facts, the death penalty USA record also shows that the youngest to be executed was Devin Thompson who was sentenced to death last October 2005 in Alabama at the age of 19 and the oldest inmate to be executed was Viva Leroy Nash who was given a death sentence sometime in June 1983 at the age of 67.

There are some methods of executions that were done by ever state in America. However, in al the 37 states that have death penalty or capital punishment, each of these states use different ways of executing an inmate and these methods are lethal injection, electrocution, lethal gas, firing squad and hanging. Most of the states use the lethal injection as their way of executing a criminal. Nebraska is the only state that uses electrocution as the sole method of execution.

In 2007, New Jersey was the first state to repeal death penalty or capital punishment. In 2008, the Nebraska Supreme court stressed out that the use of electric chair as a method of execution simply violates the Nebraska Constitution.
