Quality graphic design can have a very positive influence on the success of a business’s reputation by increasing its brand awareness. Brand identity can be very important for businesses of all shapes and sizes. The brand identity of your company is essentially your image to the world.

It is crucial that the brand’s message comes across to your audience. Graphics can help to get across the sector you are in and your reputation. For example, if you are well known for doing something particularly well then this should be conveyed in your brand identity. You should play on your current reputation (assuming it is a positive one). The brand identity should be consistent throughout everything you produce, including brochures, you website, press releases, communication with customers (emails and letters) and any other literature. This will all help build up a reputation amongst the public, or at least the people in your businesses.

Consistency is crucial. The same colour schemes and styles should always be used. If all your literature is presented in the same way, it isn’t only more likely to get your image across to those who matter, but it will also make you look professional.

A logo is possibly the most important visual tool you have to build your reputation and this should be used whenever possible. The colours and graphics used for you logo should represent you as a company. A logo is not just a random graphic. It must be right for you and fit in with what you do and how you do it. It needs to paint a positive image. A logo is a marketing tool and which logo you use can be an important decision in the success of your business.

Graphic Design is obviously integral to your brand identity. A graphic designer can have an important role in your logo design, brochure design and web design amongst other things. They will know what works – which colours go together, how to portray a certain message, and how to ensure all graphics look professional. They can design your logo as well as produce literature, such as brochures and business cards.

It is important to get your image out there. If nobody knows who you are then they will not be able to use your business. But you also need to be portrayed in the right way, because it is no point people knowing who you are if they don’t feel that you meet their needs. When people come across your business on numerous occasions they need to realise that it is the same company.

If done well brand identity can make a massive difference to the success of your company. If it isn’t done well it is an opportunity wasted.
