For low income single mothers wishing to further her education, there are government grants for women going back to school. The Federal Pell Grant is one of many free grants for single mothers. Eligible persons will receive regular checks that are used to fund college needs.

The Obama College Grants for Moms, or Moms Return to School, is a another source of grant money for women going back to school. This grant offers single mothers as much as $10,00 to be used how they see fit. Also available is the Teach Grant that allows single mothers to finish their education while teaching in elementary and secondary schools. The Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant and the Academic Competitiveness Grant are also available for qualified applicants.

Mother can also get scholarships in addition to grants, which are awarded on a merit basis. One of the best scholarships for single mothers is the Project Working Mom Scholarship. This scholarship covers the cost of study materials and tuition. Other scholarships good for single mothers are Womens Independent Scholarship Program, Denny's Single Parent Student Scholarship and Raise the Nation Foundation. Other sources of college funds are the Jeannette Ranking Foundation, single Mother Scholarship Fund and the ROSE fund.

With all of these programs available, women are sure to find one that meets their needs. These programs can allow women to go back to school without paying a dime out of pocket and even with other living expenses like groceries, rent and utilities.

Now is the best time to return to school for a single mother desiring to do so. Not only can she further her education, bus she can also get a better paying job enabling her to better provide for her children.
