Ohio is home to a lot of wonderful hunting spots. With loads of water sources, you’re going to see all kinds of wildlife every place you go, but like everything else, hunting can be dangerous, which is part of the reason that it’s so tightly regulated. While it may be a good place to hunt right off of your friend’s back porch, it might not be legal, so it is essential that you understand what places are not only good hunting spots, but are also authorized hunting locations.

The good news is that when you’re looking for a good Ohio hunting spot, you are going to find them all over the state.

Northeastern Ohio Wildlife Areas
In this part of Ohio, you’re going to come across ample hunting grounds within a quick drive from where you are located. So, head out to Auburn Marsh Wildlife Area for public hunting & fishing on 462 acres of woods, brush or grasslands. Or, you may want to take into account The Dorset Wildlife Area. You’ll find that these one thousand eighty acres are perfect for hunting and fishing of any kind and it features a nice mixture of woodlands, grasslands, open area & marshlands, so you can benefit from a wide variety of game for hunting.

Northwestern Ohio Wildlife Locations
If you are doing some northwestern Ohio hunting and are looking for a great place, you’ll want to consider checking out some of these spots for your next hunting trip. Consider Killdeer Plains Wildlife area which features over 9,000 acres for your hunting enjoyment. It’s a combination of grasslands and cropland, with a nice balance of woods and water to give you the wide open hunting experience you long for.

Central Ohio Wildlife Areas
Central Ohio hunting may not be as common as in other parts of the state, but you are still going to find some great wildlife sites in that area. Check out the Big Island Wildlife Area for over five thousand acres of your hunting enjoyment. With a mix of everything from cropland & meadows, to hardwood forests & the river running through it, you’ll find all types of game for all types of hunters.

Southeastern Ohio Wildlife Areas
Southeastern Ohio boasts locations for hunting that offers many different types of game, so whether you like to hunt the smaller game or you’re searching for that big buck, you should check out this part of the state. The Dillon Wildlife site will offer miles of natural space so that you can hunt without feeling as if you are on top of other people & competing for the game. You’ll find that this area has land that’s great for hunting any kind of game and with 3 separate sections; you will definitely want to bring a map.

Southwestern Ohio Wildlife Spots
Last, but certainly not least is the southwestern area of the state. Here, as is the case all through Ohio, hunting can be done from various different spots, but you may want to try out the Darke Wildlife Area. It only has 316 acres, which is small as opposed to some of the larger wildlife areas, but it’s rich in grasses, brush and water, which makes it perfect for hunting small game.

No matter where you choose to go hunting in Ohio, you’re certain to come across some great nature filled areas that have lots of the game you’re hunting.
