Should You Use A Golf Swing Training Aid and What You Can Hope To Gain by Using One?

The market today is simply awash with the latest fad in training aids to improve your golf swing and show you how to become a better golfer. I am a golfer myself, well in the loosest sense of the word. I find golf so frustrating sometimes and I have discovered that it is such a good leveler. Some days my shots fly true and straight with my woods, and yet another day I want to wrap them around the nearest tree - know what I mean?

If I was a serious golfer I am sure I would be tempted to look for the latest aid to help my game. Recently, I have been looking for a way to just have that edge to beat my brother-in-law when we play. I am realistic enough to accept he is technically a better hitter than me, but it would be nice to at least give him a run for his money.

I have taken a look at several golf swing training aids on the internet recently, and discovered some that are designed to attach onto your golf club as you practice your swing. One such product attaches just below the grip on your club and it vibrates slightly when you are not quite aligned correctly. You reposition your posture until it stops vibrating and then you swing. Not cheap at over $130.

Another aid to improve your golf swing is an electronic gadget where you hit the ball attached to a device that rotates when the ball is struck. As it rotates you can see what sort of angle the ball will leave the tee if hit for real. There is even a white line on the mat to help you see the potential flight of the ball. There is also an electronic device that indicates club-head speed, direction and the distance the ball would travel. This aid is also in the $130 region.

There are dozens of golf swing training aids ranging from just a few dollars to well over $100.

It is quite amazing what is on sale to help improve that old swing, and that got me to thinking. Do we really need all these aids or is there something we can do to beat those pesky clubs? I reckon there is.

As a lot of you will be able to identify with the frustration of golf on occasions, I am sure you will agree it has a lot to do with a state of mind and belief, and then there is also the physical side to consider. Ever wondered why a lot of the top golfers have their own personal and physical trainers?

Fitness and body posture have a large part to play in achieving a good golf swing. When you watch a golf professional teaching a student how to swing there are quite a lot of aspects to bring together at the same time. I am sure personal fitness has a large part to play in all of this. Take a look at Tiger Woods next time you see him on the TV and see how trim and muscular he looks. Do you think he spends time working on his physical side? You bet!

I would suggest it might be cheaper to get fitter first in order to be able to use an expensive golf swing training aid. It might be worth taking a look at a very little known method that Eric Jones, the world long drive champion's secrets to distance.
