Go Ready when Heading Off-Roading - By: Alexander Pardo

Even though there is a lot of buzz out there regarding foreign manufactured automobiles, in my feeling, they simply do not possess the comparable soul as older American cars. Yes, there are a whole group of foreign cars that can go fast, and last longer than some American autos, but none of them have the elegance and looks of a Viper or a camaro. Those American muscle cars are the stuff that the dreams of many were shaped by, with their speed, their power, their luxury, and their hot styling. Well before the days of the small and efficient rice burners, highway hugging, petrol guzzling American autos really ruled the entire world, as the American conglomerate did.

Of course, in some means those days are gone, and I imagine that it is true that they won't arrive again. Chrysler has been took over by Daimler Benz, and the other American auto companies do much of their constructing over seas that it's a big challenge to even consider their automobiles as American. Sure, they are American companies in the sense that they originated here, but in reality they are now multi-national corporations which feel no feel of domestic allegiance at all, and are only in it to produce money. However, despite the cut backs and the layoffs, and what not, some of the spirit of American automobiles still persists on the roads today.

Look about you next time you go about, and you are bound to see a couple of older autos. Nonetheless, they are unluckily going by the wayside, and being exchanged with modern-day knock offs of the antique autos. Take a gander at the modern Camaro, Mustang, Charger each of which were recently been revamped by their designers in order to bring additional "classic styling" to them. Certainly they seem nice, but it's merely not the same as experiencing a authentic piece of American steel to make the tires squeal and not beg for forgiveness.

In my opinion, if you are a lover of American sports automobiles, you shouldn't buy the pc controlled, overly sleek machines of today, but purchase one of the more classy cars of yesteryear. The fifties, and to an extent, the sixties were where it was at in terms of American cars was concerned. That was the time of the stout steel chassis that would hold together like nobody's business, of the large, stout solid American autos that would withstand up to years and years of abuse. That was a long time before the travesty of unibody manufacturing kicked back in, when men were men, and American autos were autos. Maybe those days are past, but the autos from those times – at least some of them – are still on the road nowadays, and several of them can be purchased by most reasonably better off collectors. There is nothing better than the thunder of an old, bored out v8 engine under the bonnet of a classic American autos, and that is no lie.
