Giving More Care to Your Eyes - By: AdamDouglas

Many friends around you have owned kinds of computers and they may spend lots of time on computer. Of course, many people have no choice but to work in front of computer. Once you look at a computer screen for long periods, it will result in eye strain. Symptoms of eye strain can include dry eyes, blurred vision, headache and tired eyes.

To deal with the solution, computer glasses are specifically designed to reduce eye strain for people who are required to look at computers for long periods during their working day. Specialized computer glasses have lenses which are tinted to reduce the glare from the computer screen whilst gently repositioning the eyes to a more natural, comfortable position, thus relieving the demand on the eye muscles. This leads to a reduction in tension and enhances clearer vision.

Some people may feel confused, I have a perfect vision, and do I need to wear glasses for computer work, too?
The answer is yes. Computer work involves focusing the eyes on close distances. Monitors are often placed very close to the operators because of limited space in offices or lack of solid information on how the eyes function. Young people whose near focal point are at around 15 cm (or closer) can compensate for such closeness of the monitor without instantaneous ill effects to their vision. But, some evidence shows that the constant effort to focus on near objects can lead to so called "accommodative spasms" which may result in increased premature myopia or short-sightedness.
However, wearing special computer glasses that can decrease accommodative effort and young computer operators can prevent premature vision changes. You¡¯d better talk with your ophthalmologist about what kind of work you do, how much time you work on a computer. Furthermore, you should insist on doing something to rest your eyes from computer use, for example:
1. Taking regular breaks and encouraging regular eye tests
2. Checking if there is adequate lighting in the workplace
3. Reducing glare on the computer screen
4. Checking if the monitor is in an appropriate position
5. Blinking regularly to re-hydrate the eyes
6. Encouraging use of appropriate prescription glasses where required
If you can remember the above points and take action, your vision will still be perfect. Certainly, the function of computer glasses can¡¯t be ignored.
